FAREAST OPTIMIST sparkled in the 2017 OPTIMIST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2017 OPTIMIST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP officially opened on July 12th, welcoming a record-breaking 281 sailors from 62 countries worldwide to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya for eight days of world-class competition. After fierce competition, in the team racing division, China took silver, with three members in the top ranks of the individual series despite only arriving on the first day of registration. What’s more, China also won the second place in the Nation’s Cup rankings. At the same time, Chinese sailor Haoze FANG won 5th place in the individual series.

The INTERNATIONAL OPTIMIST DINGHY ASSOCIATION hosted its annual general meeting on July 18th in Thailand. Mrs. Demolar Du, president of Far East Boats was invited to attend the meeting. Kevin Whitcraft (THA) was elected as the new President of IODA at the meeting. Another important agenda of this annual meeting was to decide the venues for 2019 OPTIMIST Championships. At last, IODA confirmed the venue of 2019 OPTIMIST World Championship is Antigua Guatemala, and Oman will host the OPTIMIST Asian Championship 2019.
