Shanghai 2016 FAREAST CUP International Sailing Regatta Close Successfully

On 15th May, Shanghai 2016 FAREAST CUP International Sailing Regatta closed successfully in Shanghai Dishui Lake. There are 10 races during the four-day event, including 9 Inshore Races and one Round-the-Lake Race. The only class isthe latest FAREAST 23R from Chinese sailing brand Far East Boats. More than 100 sailors from U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Netherlands and China showed us a great race in Dishui Lake. The high level sailors, the scale and management of the regatta make FAREAST CUP a professional sailing regatta.

The weather and wind are wonderful during the regatta, so that FAREAST 23R gives her best performance.Team Vikings from Sweden won the champion and the prize is pure racing boat FAREAST 31R. The second place was taken by Xiamen Haitonglian Sailing Team and the prize is World Sailing One Design boat FAREAST 28R. And the third place was taken by Old Boys Dream Team with the prize a sailing boat FAREAST 23R. The most exciting moment of the closing ceremony arrived when the lucky draw starts. The whole process was of great fun and full of suspense. Finally Team Eagle’s Eye won the lucky draw and got the boat prize—FAREAST 23R.

Besides the races, featured activities OPTIMIST Sailing Experience and “Little Boat Builders” during FAREAST CUP attracted more than 100 kids to take part in. Many of them showed keen interest for their first sailing. They were even exciting to build their first boat together with their parents.

Mrs. Demolar said, “In the future Far East will have more international regattas to promote sailing’s international communication. And to enhance sailing’s influence among youths and enlarge sailing group, we will have youth and university series regattas. We will build Shanghai Dishui Lake to be a sailing landmark of global influence.”
